This was a high-school project for the Rotorua Wood First Competition in 2013, and won a highly commended and special merit award. It was inspired by the formations of the mud pools found around Rotorua, as well as Maori patterns and carvings.
Brief.
Design practical, affordable and durable seating design that used wood in a creative and distinct way.
Idea.
A seat design that forms the patterns of mud pools seen around Rotorua when looked at from the right angle. Maori carvings would also be featured as details on the design by local artists on the curves of the design.
